Marti Eason-Blue Line Arts Membership Medley-2021
My subject matter is nature-based, influenced by impressionistic/abstract works of art with desired colors & textures. The natural world gives me peace & is not perfect, which is why I particularly love painting & drawing landscapes observing deep forests, beautiful ocean sides, rolling green hills & flowing rivers. Mediums of choice used: acrylic/oil/watercolor paints, charcoal & chalk pastels. I usually begin my work using a landscape reference photo as inspiration from an area I have visited. My approach to painting consists of an “Alla prima” style (wet-on-wet technique) as I tend to work quickly to capture a spontaneous mood. I also like to allow the painting to emerge and/or change visual direction as sometimes that can achieve a great visual outcome that is not forced. I enjoy creating thick textures of paint using different sized pallet knives & purposeful brushstrokes creating multiple layers. Some of my paintings also include “dripping effects” achieved through misting with water as I work on desired sections.
